The Engineering & Commerce College of South-Central University for Nationalities was founded in 2002. Approved by the State National Affairs Committee and the People’s Government of Hubei Province as well as confirmed by the State Ministry of Education, it is an independent college which the primary focus is conducting undergraduate-level and specialist education. In 2006, our college was evaluated as the “National Top 20 Independent Colleges” by the websites Sina.com, Webo.com of the Education Ministry, Tencent.com and Uschool.com, which are all portal websites or authoritative websites.

The College is located in No 3, Huangjiahu West Rd., Hongshan District, Wuhan, China P. R. within an area of more than 1,000 acres. Enrollment stands at nearly 13,000 students with a faculty of 780 full-time and part-time teachers, among whom 310 hold titles of professor or associate professor. An additional 150 teachers have master’s degree or above. The college consists of 10 departments and 3 sections: journalism, management, electro-business, electro-information engineering, environment & life science, law, foreign language, computer science & technology, economics and art design. The sections include college English, preparatory learning and general courses. We have a total of 39 majors for undergraduate and specialist education. After the students have fulfilled their curriculum requirements, they are granted the Graduation Certificate. The freshmen recruited in the fall of 2008 will be granted, upon successful completion of their study, a Bachelor’s Degree.

Since its establishment, our college has been exploring new teaching methods and educational directions. We are insisting on a combination of general knowledge with professional, and theoretic education with practical training；our development is market-orientated, our existence depends on our education quality and, the future of our institution lies in our innovation and characteristics. The design of majors, the bringing-up of talents, and the organizing of our faculty members, are all aimed at meeting the needs of the job market, and this conception has been applied to each cycle of our teaching and management. We are taking our greatest effort to produce practical-style individuals with innovative spirits for the fields of production, management, and operation.
