Introduction to the Department:

       The Department of Environment and Life Science constructed a building of 5,000 square meters with excellent facilities, equipment and high-level experimental conditions which provide laboratories for inorganic analysis, organic chemistry, chemical engineering, physical & chemistry and device analysis. State of the lab equipment includes the Single Phase, Flow Resistance, Distillation Tower, Fluidized Bed Dryer, Packing Absorber, Saturation Vapor Pressure, Rotation Spectrometer, Freezing Point Drop Detector, Acidity Detector, Ion Selective Electrodes, Gas Chromatography, High Performance Liquid Chromatography, Atomic Absorption Spectrum, and UV-visible Spectrophotometer. Biological Engineering provides laboratories for bio-chemistry, microbiology, genetics, cell biology, genetic engineering, cell engineering laboratory, molecular and the downstream processing for molecular laboratory. These laboratories contain additional advanced devices such as the Ultra-clean Table, Biochemical Incubator, High-speed Frozen Centrifuges, Electrophoresis Slot, Vacuum Freeze Drier, Polymerase Chain Reaction, Gel-image Analysis Instrument, Automatic Liquid Chromatography Separation Chromatography, and the Online Sterilization Fomenter. Environmental Engineering contains laboratories for environmental chemistry, environmental monitoring, emissions isolation and treatment, atmospheric desulphurization, and hydrodynamics laboratory. Also, students utilize the Sequencing Batch Reactor Activated Sludge Process Method of Sewage Treatment, Automatic Violence-Oxygenation Detector, Multi-functional Anaerobic Bioreactor, Up-flow Anaerobic Sludge Bed, Flocculation and Layered Sediments, Anaerobic Digestion Tower, the Fluid Resistance and Self-cycle Siphon Experimental Device.

Environmental Engineering (Undergraduate)

       Environmental pollution is one of the most important problems to be resolved during the 21st century. Environmental Engineering is a practical subject which aims to research and resolve this problem. It applies modern chemistry and biology with the help of device analyzing techniques to recognize environmental pollution and evaluate environmental quality. The aim is to build models of environmental systems so as to predict environmental behavior and conduct effective planning by applying chemical and biological engineering and pollution preventing techniques to treat and control environmental pollution. Students trained to be thoroughly professional by study of the basic courses such as environmental engineering monitoring, pollution preventing and control techniques, environmental management as well as various professional practices. At present, this is housed in a building of nearly 1,700 square meters with all the latest scientific equipment.

                

Environmental Monitoring & Treatment (Specialist)

       This major aims to enhance senior students skills in the fields of environmental engineering designing, construction, environmental monitoring, management, quality evaluation, “green” products research, pollution control and treatment.

 

Biological Engineering (Undergraduate)

       Biological engineering is among the leading subjects of natural science in the 21st century. This field combines theories and technology of molecular biology with their actual application. It is also one of the quickly-developing subjects in the field of life science. This major aims to guide students who have mastered the theories of biochemistry, molecular biology, genetic engineering, heritage engineering, fermentation engineering and pharmacy. Students are required to be familiar with the scientific principles of the industrialization, the design and techniques of biological engineering. This major has presently utilizes a 2,000 square meters facility equipped with the latest scientific tools.

Biological Techniques and Application (Specialist)

       This major is for the advanced students who have mastered the scientific principles of biological engineering as well as the relative guidelines, policies and regulations. Students of this major are expected to understand the latest development of modern biological engineering industry and its application prospects. They usually find positions in production, research and management in various biological enterprises and institutions.
